La police d'Etat fait appliquer les lois de chaque Etat, et sont divisés en 2 grandes forces :
- La « Highway Patrol », qui veille sur les routes et autoroutes et vous interpelle si vous appuyez un peu fort sur le champignon.
- La « State Police », qui gère les crimes graves commis dans l'Etat.

Il s'adresse aux titulaires d'un bac +3 (pas de diplôme requis pour les sportifs de haut niveau ou les parents d'au moins 3 enfants). Le concours obtenu, les futurs officiers de police suivent une formation de 18 mois au sein de l'École Nationale Supérieure de Police (ENSP).
